Library & Equipment

Cashflow is primarily an academic group. One goal is to teach personal finance. Therefore, we must have a comprehensive collection of books / texts that teach not only the philosophy and practical information to get started, but also more advanced and mathematical approaches to valuation of assets, diversification, investment science, etc that many students will be interested to learn. Once again, it is our policy that books can be checked out for use by any registered student as long as the book requested in not on reserve by another student (see Article IX in group constitution). This provides an open door for any interested student who wants to learn about these skills even if he / she doesn’t feel like getting involved with the group officially.

Cashflow’s main purpose is to teach personal finance. To do so in a fun, interactive and social way, we will be utilizing certain tools such as board games, guest speakers, and club member presentations. The Cashflow series board games are an excellent tool for teaching financial intelligence and introducing business philosophy to people who have no prior experience with these concepts.
It is our policy that equipment can be checked out for use for one week by any registered student (see Article IX in group constitution). This insures an open door for any interested student even if he / she doesn’t feel like getting involved with the group officially. This is important for those who cannot attend meetings or for those who would like to play the games with friends on their free time. It is also serves to assure freedom for those who wish to explore the games or listen to the CD’s without the group’s input.

In addition to the equipment rental, club members can access the CD set online. This is an educational audio series recorded by the maker of the game and many professional accountants, real estate investors, business investors, and stock and bond market investors. The series focuses on not only investing but the game Cashflow itself – an analysis of the opportunities found in the board game as one plays and the real-world implications. This is especially important. What’s the point of playing the board game if we won’t be able to identify the deals and opportunities in life? Due to legal issues, you may only access the recordings if you are a member of The Cashflow Group of Stanford (i.e. on the mailing list and have proper SUNet authentication). Only one person is allowed access at any time. Access recordings
